The 7 biggest homecoming dress trends of 2023
By Jenna Yingling
Given this year’s trends, 2023 homecoming dresses are poised to make a statement like never before. A balanced fusion of contemporary trends and elegant classics, this year’s selection possesses a unique allure.
The wildly successful summer film “Barbie” has impacted all aspects of our culture, especially fashion. While the “Barbie” movie premiered in July, our love of everything glittery and pink is apparent in fall homecoming looks. First and foremost, the “Barbie” look features any and all shades of pink. You can opt to standout in a bold neon pink or go for a more subtle look with a baby pink. Just like Barbie herself, these dresses look unapologetically feminine with accents of feather, fringe, and glitter.
If pink isn’t your thing, but making a statement is, consider a neon orange, green, yellow, or blue dress. A bright turquoise is another stunning option. Neon is commonly known as an 80’s trend, but the statement shade has resurfaced in the past few years. While the incorporation of neon into formal wear sounds strange in theory, these colors are actually very complimentary to a variety of skin tones, and they pair well with both silver and gold jewelry.
If you love everything Y2K, be sure to check out dresses with a ruffle hem. This cut is so flattering and is varied enough to compliment a range of body types. The drop-waist ruffle accent gives the dress more shape and structure with a tight bodice to compliment your natural curves. This dress style is the perfect medium between a tight bodycon and a full skirt dress.
The one shoulder dress is a timeless style that exudes effortless sophistication. While simple, the cut makes for an elegant shape that truly proves less is more. Mix it up by adding a full sleeve for contrast and flair.
With icons like Taylor Swift and Harry Styles leading the charge, we have had a cultural shift towards maximalist fashion. Women and girls are placing more value on their individuality and are showcasing their preferred taste and aesthetics as opposed to blending in with the crowd. These dress styles have an added dimension with textured details including but not limited to feathers, holographic sequins, pearls, and fringe.

What Dress Best Fits Your Body Shape: Rectangle.
By Molly McMenamy
If you fit under the rectangle category, your chest, waist, and hips are most likely similar in size. For this shape, it does not matter how large or small these proportions are, as long as their measurements are alike. The proportions have to be similar in order to create the rectangular appearance. The dress styles that best fit this type vary in stretchiness and length alike. If you wanted to accentuate your chest or stomach, you could wear a tighter dress. On the other hand, if you wanted something more conservative you could try a dress that is looser or more covered. Some of the types that work for your shape best are maxi, column, and wrap dresses. Maxi dresses are long and normally made of light, flowing fabric. This type of dress is often worn during seasons with warm weather. A column dress is more fitted than a maxi, and the fabric drapes straight down to the floor. Column dresses are recommended if you want to wear something with a tighter appearance. The last type is a wrap dress that accentuates your waist more than both maxi and column dresses. It is often cut with a v-shaped neckline as well. The choice is up to you, but the best dress type for your shape equally shows off your proportions.

What Dress Best Fits Your Body Shape: Hourglass.
By Molly McMenamy
If you fit under the hourglass category, you most likely have a large chest, followed by a smaller waist, and a larger hip/lower back area. This body shape is best known for its curves. Dresses that fit the hourglass type the best are tight around the waist and slightly more loose in the chest/hip areas. A few of the dress types that work best for this shape are sheath, bodycon, and peplum. Sheath dresses are often fitted close to the body and are cinched at the waist. These dresses aren't as skintight as the other two types but they don't hang off your body either. Bodycon dresses are reccomended if you have an hourglass figure because they accentuate each curve you have. Peplum dresses are quite similar to bodycon dresses but they come with a frilled waist. Any dress that comfortably allows you to breathe while exhibiting your curves is a great option for your shape. In the next piece, we will go in-depth on the rectangle body shape.

What Dress Best Fits Your Body Shape: Pear.
By Molly McMenamy
The first body shape we're addressing is pear. If you fit under the pear category, you most likely have a smaller chest/upper stomach, and a wider waist/lower back. This body shape is best known for its triangular appearance. Dresses that best fit the pear shape have a tight top and loose bottom. A few of the dress styles that work best for this body shape are A-line, empire, and tea length. An A-line dress has a triangular silhouette and widens out at the hips. An empire dress has a fitted top that often creates contrast from its flowing bottom skirt. A tea-length dress is similar to the previously mentioned types but it cuts off below the knee and above the ankle. These dresses tend to draw more attention to the upper parts of the body like the chest. If you fit in this category you could also wear tight dresses if you want to accentuate your upper waist. It ultimately depends on what you feel confident in. In the next piece, we will go in-depth on the hourglass body shape.

For the staff and frequent shoppers of Le Femme Boutique, this past June 4th was a very important day. The long-awaited bridal show took place that afternoon at 2 p.m. All of the staff members were there to help the show run smoothly. "We started preparing about a month ago, so its nice to see things start to come together," Yelitza, one of the employees, stated. Before the show, the audience members each recieved a glass of champagne and a ticket to win various prizes.
Backstage, in the dressing area, the models were getting zipped into their dresses. The staff members were adding the final touches to the looks. Many of the models had tiaras or veils placed on their heads, and each one wore jewelry that matched their gowns.
